Where in the world is Summit headed next?

October 18, 2018

On the heels of the Summit at the Bay held in Victoria, B.C. on April 21st & 22nd, the demand to bring Summit farther and wider has increased. Our team has had requests from Vancouver, Kelowna, Toronto, Calgary and now as far as Finland. We are excited to announce that, thanks to some incredible partners and supporters, we are getting very close to making this possible.

Exciting times are ahead indeed.

What’s so unique about the Summit that educators, parents and community groups from around the world are clamouring for it?
The Summit has truly become the convergence of education and human development. It’s both engaging & inspiring for youth while also providing them with the all important 21st century skills we’re all talking about. You know, stuff like creativity, innovation, critical thinking, resilience. These are the skills that our kids will need to fulfill the needs of our rapidly changing world. They also happen to be the skills that produce happy, healthy and whole humans.

This two day, immersive personalized learning event puts youth in the driver’s seat of their own learning, while encouraging them to connect to what drives them and what matters to them. At the Summit, they find their passion AND they find their people. It’s through this learner-led, collaborative approach that young people move from inspiration to action.

Many of the Blue Paper Projects that were developed at the Summits are still moving forward in the real world through the passion and drive of the incredibly diverse group of youth that attended from all over British Columbia.

You can check out this video coverage of the event by Shaw TV to learn more about the experience directly from the youth who attended.

So, what’s next? Glad you asked:

  • We’re working with our partners to train up more facilitators and fine tune the Summit model so that it’s ready to launch in a city near you in 2019
  • We’ve prototyped our software platform to support students in their inquiries in between Summits and connect them to their peers and adult mentors in real time
  • We’re launching the beta version of our online mentorship program later this year to connect youth to mentorship opportunities worldwide
  • We are actively seeking funding to move all this and more forward NOW because the kids can’t wait
